BY-LAWS OF BLACK MOUNTAIN BOWMEN

Revised June 24, 2001

ARTICLE I

The name of this organization shall be know as the Black Mountain Bowmen (BMB) of San Jose.

ARTICLE II

PURPOSE

The purpose of this club shall be: to foster, expand and perpetuate the practice of all types of ARCHERY, and the spirit of good fellowship among all archers; to encourage the use of the bow in shooting target and hunting of all legal game, birds,and animals and cooperate with the National Fiel Archery Association (NFAA)California Bowmen Hnters & State Archery Association (CBH/SAA)in securing better hunting conditions for bow hunters; to support propagation and conservation of game; to maintain a field archery course and conduct field tournaments and games in accordance with the rules of the NFAA and CBH/SAA

ARTICLE III

MEMBERSHIP

Section 1. Any person of good moral character shall be granted membership in the Black Mountain Bowmen who has reached his or her sixteenth (16th) birthday.

Section 2. Application for Black Mountain Bowmen membership shall be submitted in writing and approved by the Board of Directors of Black Mountain Bowmen.Physcical year for BMB is from January 1st January 1st

Section 3. The dues shall be stated that the first year with initiation fee ($25.00)and one year membership fee of $60.00 and total of $85.00 family or single membership. The junior with a sponsor shall be $50.00,the Secretary shall give notice to all members 30 days before dues are payable each year. After a club member's dues become delinquent 60 days, he or she shall be dropped from the roster and shall lose all privileges of a member of Black Mountain Bowmen. The Board of Directors may extend a member additional time for the payment of his or her initial dues.

Section 4. The Board of Directors may suspend or expel any member for conduct detrimental to the interest of the club.

Section 5. Honorary and Life time memberships may be conferred by the Board of Dircetors on individuals uopon approval of two-thirds vote of the members of the Board of Directors. Any life time honorary member shall not be subject to dues.

Section 6. The Secretary shall keep a membership record of all Black Mountain Bowmen members containing the name and address of each member. Termination of any membership shall recorded in the book, together with the date on which the membership closed.

Section 7. New member, upon the Board of Directors' acceptance, shall receive, at their fisrt regular meeting, a constitution of the Club, Club Roster, and range rules of Black Mountain Bowmen.

Section 8. Pledge: I_____________, pledge to the best of my ability to uphold the Constitution of the Black Mountain Bowmen and to work for the betterment and best interest of the Club. I shall consider it my duty to accept such responsibility as may be requested of me in the care and maintenance of Club property and projects.

ARTICLE IV

EXPENDITURES AND FINANCES

Section 1. All monies received from all sources, including dues, shall be deposited in the general fund of the Black Mountain Bowmen.

Section 2. All appropriations must have to approval of the Board of Directors before any obligation or expense can be incurred. A committee member obligationg the Black Mountain for any amount exceeding the approved appropriation may bew liaable for such expenses in excess of the amount aouthorized.

Section 3. No withdrawal from funds of the Black Mountain Bowmen shall be made without the approval of the Board of Directors. Payment shall be made by checks signed by the President and the Treasurer.

Section 4. The fiscal year of the Black Mountain Bowmen shall be from each July 1 to each June of the following year.

ARTICLE V

ELECTION OF OFFICERS AND TERM OF OFFICE

Section 1. Officers of this organization shall be a President, a Vice President, a Secretary-Treasure, a Range Captain, and Board of Directors (Article VI, Section 2).

Section 2. Officers and Board Members shall be nominted at the November club meeting and shall be elected by the majority vote of the general members present at the December club meeting. The officers of the Black Mountain Bowmen shall be fisrt elected and shall be deemed elected also as the first four (4) members of the Board. The remainder of the Board shall then be elected. In the event of a vacancy in any office during yhe year, the successor to the office shall be elected by the Board of Directors. The outgoing President shall be a Board Member for the the next year, or other officers in their succession.

Section 3. No member shall become an officer of the Black Mountain Bowmen, unless he or she has been a member for three (3) months.

ARTICLE VI

Section 1. The governing body of the Black Mountain Bowmen shall consist of the Board Directors. The right to vote shall vested only in the Board members. The President shall exercise his right to vote only when in the event of a tie vote.

Section 2. The Board of Directors of Black Mountain Bowmen shall consist of President, Vice President, Secretary-Treasurer, Range Captain, and six (6) Board members.

Section 3. Regular meeting of the Board of Directors shall be designated by the President. All members must be notified, Five (5) members of the Board of Directors shall constitute a quorum of the said Board.

Section 4. The general membership may override any decision made by the Board and send it back to the Board for re-consideration, provided a two-thirds majority of the total membership agree that such decisions made by the Board are detrimental to the club's welfare.

ARTICLE VII

Section 1. The President shall preside over the meeting of the Black Mountain Bowmen and its Board of Directors. He shall file a report of the year's activity at the end of his term with the Board of Directors of the Black Mountain Bowmen. The President shall appoint all committees as may be necessary.

Section 2. In the absence or disability of the President, the Vice President shall perform the duties of the President and in the absence of the Vice President the Secretary shall perform the duties of the President.

Section 4. The Treasurer shall keep the records of all monies received and disbursement and a record of the general membership dues.

Section 5. The Range Captain shall supervise the maintenance of the range the year round.

Section 6. The Vice President shall also assume the position of Tournament Chairman.

ARTICLE VIII

MEETINGS

Section 1. Meeting of the Black Mountain Bowmen shall be held at such times and places as may be designated by the President.

Section 2. Special meeting of the general membership of the Black Mountain Bowmen may be called at the discretion of the Presdent or 10% of the membership by petition to the President.

ARTICLE IX

The President shall appoint committees as follows: Parliamentarian, Tournament, Publicity, Social, Handicap, Relations with Other Clubs, and such special committees as may be necessary.

ARTICAL X

TOURNAMENTS

Section 1. Club Shoots shall be held on the 2nd Sunday of each month.

Section 2. Methods for deciding club champions of each division shall be decided at the first meeting of the years.

Section 3. All field tournaments and competitions shall be in accordance with the rules of the National Field Archery Association (NFAA).

ARTICLE XI

AMENDMENTS

The By-Laws may be ameneded by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of the membership oresent at two (2) consecutive monthly meetings or at a special meeting called for that purpose.

RESOLUTION

ADDITION TO BY-LAWS

Whereas, the officers and members of the Black Mountain Bowmen Archery Club desire to operate and maintan their club in the best interests of all members, as well as the interests of fostering, expanding and pertuating the practice of Field Archery, and the spirit of good fellowship among all archers: now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED: That Article XII be added to the by-law of Said Organization.

ARTICLE XII

BUILDING FUND

Section 1. Establishment of Fund to be used solely for the purpose of obtaining a long term lease of property, or the purchase of property to be used by Black Mountain Bowmen members for maintaining of a field archery course.

Section 2. The monies for the Building Fund to be obtained under the direction of the Chairman of the Building Fund Committee by such legal means as he may devise. Ther shall be deposited into the Building Fund, Ten Per Cent (10%) of all monies that are to be deposited into the General Fund.

Section 3. The money deposited into the Building Fund may be withdrawn only for such purpose as outlined in Section I of Article XII. A two-third (2/3) affirmative vote of the entire membership shall be reqired, before any such monies may be withdrawn.

This BY_LAWS was based on the copy I got from September 1965. There are few AMENDMENTS changes after the BY_LAWS which I don't have. Any member have the information, please let me know so I can incorporate them.
